Foodies take note: If you’ll be on Mt. Desert Island or the Schoodic Peninsula in the upcoming weeks, consider attending or booking a table at one of these three special events at Havana, one of the island’s best restaurants.
• On Saturday, Aug. 16, Havana is hosting a wine tasting highlighting reds from southern Italy. It’s free, simply stop by between 2 and 5 p.m.
• Despite its name, the August Farm Dinner is scheduled for Sept. 1. This outdoor meal takes place at Mandala Farm, an organic farm in Gouldsboro, on the Schoodic Peninsula. Manadala uses Norwegian Fjord horses in its farming efforts, and in addition to produce, it raises cashmere goats, chickens, sheeps, and cows. Dinner is served outdoors, after the farm tour. Also contributing to this event is Sassafrass Catering. Reservations required.
• On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Havana is hosting a Producer’s Diner, a five-course meal with everything made entirely from ingredients grown and harvested within 100 miles of Bar Harbor. There are two seatings, one at 6:30 and one at 7:30, price is $69 +++. Reservations would be a really good idea.
