There’s art in them thar hills: More than 100 artists are expected to show their works at the 43rd annual Norway Arts Festival on Saturday (July 9, 2010). For the first time in the festival’s history, downtown’s Main Street will be closed to vehicles, allowing pedestrians easier viewing and providing more room for entertainers. The event kicks off today with the library’s annual used book sale, and tonight with a free street dance. Throughout the weekend, expect live entertainment, yard sales, and fun finds at area businesses. There also are plenty of choices to can refuel between buying binges: a food court, lobster lunch, chicken pot pie, and a chicken barbecue. Sounds like a delicious time.
Among the arts-related entertainment:
• Dancers on the Green
• Skylark Jazz Emsemble
• various singers
• Edible T.V. Comedy (?!?)
• Celebration Barn Presents
• Shakespeare in the Park
• Trash into Art puppet show
Never been to Norway? ‘Bout time you made the time. It’s tucked in the Western Mountains foothills west of South Paris, east of Harrison, north of Naples. Beautiful area of lakes and mountains, with great hiking and good swimming and boating.
