Camden’s inns are serving a slice of cake along with side of history


C’mon, you know you’ve always wanted to peek inside Camden, Maine’s, lovely historical inns. Well, you can do just that and enjoy a sampling of their house-made sweets during the annual Camden Cake Walk, on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Ten local inns will open their doors for tasting and touring from 1-4 p.m.

Participating inns are: Abigail’s, Belmont Inn, Blackberry Inn, Blue Harbor House, Camden Maine Stay Inn (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), Capt. Swift House, Grand Harbor Inn, Hartstone Inn, Hawthorn Inn (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), and the Lord Camden Inn. Many of them are offering special lodging packages for the event, which is a fundraiser for the Camden-Rockport Historical Society.

Tickets are $20 adult, $10 for ages 12 and younger, and must be purchased in advance. Ticket outlets include the Market Basket and the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce.
