Here’s a feel-good story. Frisbee’s Market, opened in 1828 and operated by five generations of the Frisbee family, almost passed out of current owner Cindy Frisbee’s hands, due to bankruptcy. Enter Alphonse D’Amico, a Massachusetts-based entrepreneur with real estate and fast-food interests.

According to a local news report, D’Amico “had never set eyes on the Frisbees or their businesses until early this month, when he and his wife stopped for lunch on a leisurely ride up the coast.” Taken by the family story, he bid for the property, purchased it, and intends for the Frisbee family to operate it until they can pay him back.

The Kittery Point property includes both the market and Cap’n  Simeon’s Galley, a waterfront restaurant. Cindy Frisbee hoped to reopen by Mother’s Day.
