Early report: “It was very good, but also very crowded.” Yup, sounds like Hug’s. This new Falmouth restaurant, which replaced beloved Johnny’s Bistro, is an offshoot of the eponymous restaurant at Sugarloaf. The cuisine is Italian. While I haven’t been to this new one, I’m a huge fan of the one at Sugarloaf. Love the pesto bread sticks and the family style salad, and I’m wild about the wild mushroom ravioli. More later, after I’ve dined at the spot (I’ll let you know if this new Hug’s deserves kisses). Sorry, no website, so I can’t provide a link.
In other Falmouth food news, I dipped into Black Cherry Provisions the other morning, time-pressed to pick up something for lunch before I boarded bus bound for Boston. I opted for a cup of the carrot-artichoke soup, accompanied by a slice of focaccia bread. Good and reasonably priced. It wasn’t quite hot enough, but that might have been because I was relatively early for lunch. Menu is limited, but worth a look-see if in the area. It’s directly opposite the side-street entrance for Ricetta’s/Staples plaza (or sneak out the side entrance to the Walmart plaza).
