Ho, ho, ho: Freeport kicks off the holiday season

This Saturday, Nov. 20, L.L. Bean kicks of Freeport’s holiday season, with a tree-lighting ceremony in Discovery Park at 6:30 p.m. Expect holiday merriment, entertainment by the Boy Singers of Maine and Musica de Filia Girls choir along with appearances by characters from Portland Stage Company’s production of A Christmas Carol.

Bean’s is also hosting a Coat Drive for Seniors this weekend. For every gently used coat received, Bean’s will donate $5 to the Keep ME Warm campaign.

The event is the first in Bean’s Northern Lights celebration, which continues weekends through New Year’s Eve. Expect entertainment, light displays, special events, workshops, and horse-drawn carriage rides on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 7 p.m., culminating with fireworks and a performance by Rick Charette on New Year’s Eve.
