Here’s a great family event, and it’s free!
Sap’s running, and sugar houses throughout Maine are preparing for the annual Maine Maple Sunday, March 22. Note, many maple palaces are open on Saturday, too.
Dozens upon dozens of sugar houses statewide will open their doors for this scrumptious event, offering tastings, samples, sales, and demonstrations of how it takes 40 gallons of sap to produce just one gallon of that liquid gold. Activities at some include sleigh or wagon rides and sugarbush tours. Expect all manner of maple possibilities, from pancakes and doughnuts to maple soda.
For details about what’s happening where and when, and which sugar houses will be serving maple syrup on ice cream, download the 26-page (!) PDF file from the Maine Maple Sunday page. It lists all participants, their hours and their offerings.
